I don't quite know what I expected when I booked two weeks at Renaissance in April. I certainly did it with a certain amount of trepidation. Exercise and I have long been strangers. What took me completely by surprise was that I actually enjoyed my time there. No, it was not a universal bed of roses, but amazingly I started looking forward to the sessions in the gym, to the long hikes, the morning walk, and to the mealtimes.
Fi and Paul have developed a uniquely personal and caring style, and assembled a highly professional team around them. The result is that real changes happen. I lost some excess kilos, dropped a couple of belt notches and, best of all, my blood pressure reversed its habitual upward trend for the first time for 20 years.
And what I certainly did not expect to be writing, a couple of months later, was that I have since been on a hiking holiday in the Black Forest, that my belt is still a couple of notches in (OK maybe a little tighter) and that I've halved my BP medication.
